I fish ponds 4, 5, and 6 almost every weekend for catfish. So far I have not tried too hard on 5 but 4 and 6 have lots of small cats. Pulled a nice 8 pounder out of 4 in the begining of June. Only bait I have had any luck with is chicken livers, but my fishing buddy has lost 2 monsters (20+ pounds) bluegill heads. Pond 5 has loads of largemouth if you know how to catch them. Plastics work best, running a weedless setup and get into the thick of it. The bass seem to feed very slowly as the temperature rises, I believe this is because the water temperature rises so drastically by 10:00.

Hey Bassmaster,

Are you still getting cats out of these ponds? Do they allow night fishing here? We don't have any channel cats to speak of in King County, so I'm thinking of giving these ponds a try after doing some trout fishing on the Yak sometime. I love catfishing. If you ever need any help on fishing on the west side of the mountains, just let me know!

Thanks and good luck,
Steelie

P.S. If you haven't seen it already, www.catfish1.com is an awesome forum for all things catfishing.

yes me and my fishing buddy are still pulling small ones out and he is still loosing big ones ;) I am yet to have luck with bluegill heads so he may just be telling fishtails. If I land one of the big ones I will be sure to report it. Just for a tip... cast near the shore until the water cools down. The weeds there make it heavy if you check your bait a lot so use big bait and big gear and just sit back and wait.

Thanks, man. I'm gonna drive over next week and check it out. Do they allow night fishing there, or do you have to clear out after dusk?

Good luck catching the big one! From what I've read, there's no better bait than bluegill heads for the really big fish.
