We arrived just in time at Kosmos. A tournament was under way and we arrived right after the last boat launched. We headed towards the Fishing Bridge at Taidnampam. I anchored about 50 yards in front of the bridge towards the shoreline. My son, my buddy and myself all were using a slip float using salad shrimp and a piece of worm. We all were about 10 feet deep. No one on the bridge or any nearby trollers/still fisherman were catching anything. No bites, nothing. We did mark several large groups of fish about 40-50 ft on the fishfinder, but no takers. After about 3 hours of nothing, we decided to fish for smallies, or at least I did. I stuck to about 30 ft deep and casting a lipless craw colored crankbait- nothing. My son was tossing around a creature hula tube w/football head, but he kept on getting snagged, so he started tossing a smaller white spinner bait. Nothing. We noticed a small cove with some overhanging trees directly across Taidnampam boat launch. I tied on a 5 inch watermelon senko weightless and casted it as far as I could right in front of the tree. The wind was picking up, so when the fish hit, I couldn't really tell it was on until I reeled in a bit. After a brief battle, I finally got the fish in, nice picture, weighed in at over 2 pounds, my son took a nice video of my battle, gave it a kiss and released it unharmed. We decided to head back in because the tourney was ending soon and I didn't want to be stuck behind that. I did see one of the entrants in front of the launch pull in a nice smallie right when we were loading the boat. Overall, we were targeting the Silvers, but I was happy with the fish I caught.
