I wanted to hit bigger water today but, didn't want to deal with the recreational boaters. With the weather being a nice as it was, i ended up going to Sixteen instead.

It was a great afternoon/evening to be out on the lake. Got out on the water around 3:30pm, sunny skies & calm water with water temps around 68 degrees. I have been doing a lot of reading about mid-day top water fishing. With the weather being as nice as it was, I thought it would be a good time to give it a try. Started throwing a spook jr. in a sort of translucent chart/white along the edges of submerged weed lines and along and through the pads on the west end of the lake. Using a walk the dog retrieve I brought four to the boat using this method but missed hook sets on three others. After covering an area with the spook jr, i would follow up with a WCCT Western Ring Worm in the #76 cinnamon color. I had it t-rigged weightless on a 2/0 EWG. I would cast to the shore and slowly swim and twitch it back to the boat. This produced a total of 6 fish and the biggest of the day ( ha, ha biggest....) 12" LMB. As the sun started to go down i switched to a black spin bait ( has been very productive for me at this lake in the evening) but nothing.

It was a active and relaxing evening on the water. Can't wait to do it again!
