YAAAAA HOOOOOO!!!

Back on the water Again. Put in at the Corps Launch above the Chief Joe Dam ( Water temp 69-70F), and headed up river to the Lower most set of Pens. Several boats trolling and a few still fishing from a boat. Even a few folks on the walk-ways of the pens themselves. The water temp was 65-67F in the pen area. Saw a few fish caught by the boats, and some of the pen fishermen were hooking a few. Cindy and I kept our limit of 4 fish, loosed several more. Wasn't able to find a pattern today, Caught fish on Black marabou jigs (1/16 and 1/8th oz), Brown dubbed body with brown legs tied on a 1/16 oz jig head, Plastic Minnow imitation on jig head, dark fly carolina rigged to name a few. Even caught a few on Big-D's Famous "Pellet Fly". My two fish were 7# 13oz & a 4 + pounder, while Cindy's were a 5 + pounder and a 8# 1oz, It's great having a digital scale in the boat. She beat me on total weight and Biggest fish, Some things never change. Only fished in the area of the lower pens today, and had a great time on the water. We saw fish that would have pushed the 15# mark, but didn't hook into any that size.
Can't wait for cold weather. Stay safe everyone.

Thank You Mav186, maybe we'll cross lines on the water someday. I tried to post a pic with the report, but alas, it was lost in the translation.

Hey Lewis, Great report. It's been a while since I was able to hit RW. We purchased our dream/retirement home up in Waterville. The home was built in 1920 and I've been spending every free hour remodeling/up dating. Hopefully we'll move in before the cold hits and I can get a day or three off to hit RW. Until then I'll have to live vicariously through your reports. I’m happy to hear the Trout Pellet Flies still hold a little magic. Thanks for the kudos.

hey Ya Big-D, Congrats on your "Retirement Project", even if it does alter your Outdoor time.
Best of luck to you, renovation/remodeling is a great venture even if it can be frustrating at times.

Hey Joe
Seemed most of the visible fish were at the upper end of the pens, right at the upriver side, and right below the pens, where the current would create a swirl. We saw very few fish along the sides, but the current was very light on Friday. We did see one boat that got a couple off the lower outside corner of the pens, about 30 yards out. Didn't see what they were using.
Maybe next week we'll hit the lower haunts.
