Went to Wanapum Dam to try for Walleye. The dam had completely shut off all flow and the river below the dam had dropped about 4 feet, too much to launch the 14 foot boat. So went to Potholes to try for walleye. Launched about 10:00 and fished, north and west of Goose Island 40 to 70 feet with no bites. Water temp was chilly 36 with light wind. Left at about 3:00 and stopped at Wanapum Dam which was releasing and the river had come back up to normal. Very strange

We rarely fish below Vantage, so we can't speak much for that part of the Columbia. But for absolute positive sure, Chief Joe Dam, Wells Dam, Rocky Reach, and Rock Island, are all the same. Flows change drastically and repeatedly, without any pattern whatsoever. The one predictable pattern, however, is that when the flow stops, so does the bite...regardless of targeted species! Thanks for the Potholes report!
