Missed the first day of sockeye, but caught the second in time. My son and daughter managed the 2am alarm and joined the fun between Seward Park and Mercer. Not too crowded, was ok and relaxed to drive. Rigged the same as a couple of years ago, single black hook on one side and red on the other, one at 65 ft and one at 80. The boat won't go below 1.5 knots, so put the engine in and out of gear. Seemed to work like a charm. Lots of fish on both hooks by 5:30, lost quite a few, the ones we kept were nice and fun to bring in 5-7 lb bucks.
Done by 10am, just as the heat was going up.
Freezer is full of beautiful fillets - it'll be nice grilling for the rest of the summer.
