Fished Upper Caliche Saturday and Sunday with my Dad and 6yr old son. Weather was great, sunny with little breeze. There were lots of bank fisherman and a handful of boaters. We wanted to try for some perch before targeting trout. Hit the far side of the lake with the boat where we had caught perch in the past. Fished on the bottom with chunks of worm, casting out and slowly retrieving across the bottom. Got a few perch but were catching more trout than perch. Couldn't keep the trout off the hook. We caught far more trouth that way than the bank fisherman with their powerbait. Headed up to one of the fingers in the lake and were catching one perch after the other right under the boat with less trout. The perch in this lake have overpopulated over the last few years. 3 years ago, they were 10 inches long and have progressively gotten smaller. This year we struggled to find any over 5 inches. They were small but full of eggs. We didnt' count but probably kept 60-70 of them. Takes alot of them at that size to make a meal and also helps to knock down the population. If fisherman don't start taking them out of there, the state will come in and kill off the lake. We easlily caught our limit of trout on Saturday and Sunday. When we cleaned the trout we noticed that they were eating snails and that is why we were catching them right on the bottom. On Sunday we fished with powerbait 6 inches off the bottom while everyone else was fishing a couple feet off the bottom. Again, we easily out fished everyone. Good lake to take the kids to. If they get bored, they can run around in the sagebrush.

Good report trapper, just a quick warning for anyone taking kids and or dogs out to any of the sage brush areas be very careful and check often for ticks. I realize its still a little cool but they are all over out there. Good luck and great fishing.
