My little guy & I hit the water for a few hours. The wind made for a rough go at times. water temp. was 48-49, broken clouds & mid 50's air temp. We tried jigs & worms for spiny ray without a bite. As the wind let up we set up for trolling for trout. We used size 2 woolly buggers behind a couple of beads and an action disc with 3/8 Oz. worm weight. We had just started trolling when I saw what I thought was Jeremy's line hitting bottom. Oh! Fish on that fast! It was a nice fat 15'' rainbow! We went on outy into the deeper water & had a few bumps but, no hook-ups. We went back into 15 Ft. of water or less & started to have fun. We boated & kept six all in the 14-16" fatty range. These fish were not the brite fresh frisky planters that could be seen jumping now and again. These guys stayed low & pulled a lot. It was good practice for Jeremy as to how to play a fish as he lost a few next to the boat. We had a good time. Many of the fish were hooked in less than 10' of water! Red & or black buggers were best. Olive went untouched.
We ate one last night & I still can't get the muddy, mossy taste out of my mouth. I had hoped this wouldn't be the case. I haven't kept rainbow out of here for years because of this. I had hoped the previous muddy taste experience was due to warm water in the summer. Now, Does anybody know if I can use any particular brine & smoke the muddy taste out of them?

Fillet the fish and soak the fillets in buttermilk over nite , works great with catfish , dont see why it wouldnt work with trout .
