What a day! A little fishing, got the lawn mowed, hamdogs and some tunes by Fanny Alger at the Rex, a trip to the beach with the dogs and all in the sunshine! A perfect day indeed…but back to the fishing. I should also mention that we pulled kokanee limits out of Lake Samish this morning.

We launched at approximately 6:00 this morning and headed towards the west side of the main lake. First line in was the lead line rig with a swing blade and one of my custom tied wedding band-flash spinners tipped with a maggot. It got hit before we had a full color out. Between the two of us we tried to run three lines; two lead line and one off the downrigger but we couldn’t get more than two lines in the water at one time. It didn’t take long to get the first 8 fish so we quit using bait to tip the lures and fished C & R for a couple hours. Even with out the bait we had consistent action fishing 12’–39’ deep trolling at 1.2-1.9 MPH. The water temp was a little cool at about 51 degrees. If this weather holds the lake is going to be lights out fishing in a few days. Final count 10 kokanee retained, I have no idea how many C & R and one fish lost that may have been around 2 pounds.

Wow nice sounds like I need to hit the samish. That will make for some tasty meals. I bet that was alot of fun.

They are a bit smaller than the Lake Stevens fish. These fish were 10"-13".
