My friends and I went to Jameson on our annual fishing trip and left completely happy.

We fished from the boat and the shore with both attempts being very successful. I know some posters have said this lake is dead but the last two years have been great fishing. Jameson has never really been a good morning lake but it really comes alive in the afternoon and evening.

The weather this weekend was mostly sunny around 80 degrees. We were fishing about 3 feet from the bottom using all colors of powerbait. The fish seemed to love that stuff.

Location wasn’t so important this year as years past. Normally we have our best luck right near Jack’s Resort but this year we caught them near Jack’s and out in the big area. Probably the best spot on the lake is between Jack’s and the public camping area. The fish seem to concentrate in that area.

All in all, it was an absolutely great trip as we all (5) limited both days. I will be there again next year.

What was the average size of the trout you and your buds caught?

All were fat and in the 10-12" range. Some a little bigger.

Good to hear the lake is coming back to life. I've read so many poor reports for Jameson over the years so your report is inspiring. This lake use to be absolutely fantastic when I fished it growing up. The fish back then were in the 16 to 20 inch range and I'm fortunate to have hundreds of great memories of fishing Jameson. I've vowed to get there again and hope that maybe in October I can make the trip. Thanks for your report.
