I got onto Eloika at about 8:00 AM. I launched at Jerry's Landing (terrible weeds at the ramp) and turned north along the east side of the lake. I fished from there to about halfway to the slough. I managed to catch 4 keepers, but only invited 2 home to dinner. I caught 3 just on the outside edge of the dollar pads and one out in the main body of the lake. The first fish was taken on a chartreuse roadrunner with a chartreuse grub tail. The rest were caught on a Berkeley Triple Marguarita worm with no wait. I fished it real slow through the weeds letting it fall as deep as I could without getting snagged. There wasn't any wind to speak of and I got rained on very lightly for the first 3 hours, but it wasn't a problem. The bite lasted till about 10:00 AM and then shut off like a switch. Because it was on a Friday, I was the only boat on the entire lake. I liked that!

Good job. I like the lake to myself too, that way nobody can see me fishing the hot spots. :-) And no wakes for those board people.

Hey Lotech Joe, we went out in the evening and fished the south end lillies between 7-9 pm, caught 5 between 1-3 1/2 lbs, was wondering if you noticed anything unusual about the fish, like redness around their gills and mouth, and maybe a few sores? Every fish I caught this evening had this problem, they just didn't look too healthy...

One of my fish had a small sore on the left side below it's lateral line. Otherwise, all fish looked perfectly healthy. They tasted good too.

I was gunna say, you check the tides? Might explain the switch. Or the current front. Always a reason why they sut down.

fishinislife;
There are no tides in Eloika Lake, but I must admit when the sun came out the bite slammed shut. A passing front for sure.
