Fished Green Lake from the raft today. Only one bite from the trout, I threw everything I had. Tried trolling, spoon, spinner, dropshot and plastics bobber and powerbait. The fish are changing up their habits because of the weather I think.

Interesting thing: First time ever flyfishing though. The trout weren't having any of it. I don't know what I was using, some nymphs and dry flies that my brother tied. I had a power bait bobber out for trout and was using the fly rod with my two pole endorsement. In the end I gave up and put a bit of corn on the end and let it float naturally and kooked a baby carp. Fun times, probably way more fun than playing a trout, but carp are "garbage fish" so fishing for them is unpopular. I know, it's cheating to put a bait on a fly rod probably, but my first fish ever on a fly rod was cheating. But the trout weren't biting.

I did see a GINOURMOUS bass, which probably was about 8 pounds. I thought it was a carp for a second, but I saw the black tail and the big non-suckerfish mouth. This made me happy, as I have been out on Green Lake quite often and never seen or hooked anything but trout carp and those little rock bass. I'd like to catch a blue gill or perch or bass some day, but I don't think Green Lake is gonna be the best for that.

All in all a really slow day, contrasted to the other day when I had about fifteen rainbows on. One right after the other, on a brass Kastmaster and a home made spinner. All catch and released, wasn't using bait, just for fun. between 12 and 17 inches they were. I've got a fridge full of trout from Green Lake already, and contrary to what everyone says, the fish from this lake taste delicious. The bigger ones are quite pink and tasty and I have never caught anything under twelve inches.

Someday I'll get that bass and forty pound carp. Someday.

Sounds like a average to lack luster day on the water for Jack Bauer. Although, Jack did perk up for the Carp, didn't he?
