It was probley a big Bass, there was a big Pike caught out of there a few years back but there hasnt been anymore reported since then. The problem with the Spider wire is if it gets the smallest of nicks or is not changed out alot it breaks really easy for some reason. I fish almost daily and i run Maxima on my casting reels, i will run braid on my spinning reels since it lays off the reel nicer and you dont get the spinning reel bird nests as offten. Maxima is strong and lasts a long time. Ive caught 20lb Tiger Muskies on it along with hundreds of PIke and the line lasts. I use the 15lb most of the time. Good luck with your fishing

Use a Uni-knot and add about five feet of fluro. line of 20# test, the braid will not hits rocks, and other obstacles that will damage it, same as a drop shot setup, without the drop shot hook, and the fish cannot see the leader.

Pike in Eloika? I spend a whole lot of time up there an have never caught or seen a pike. Don't feel bad about the 20# spiderwire breaking! I had 65 lb PowerPro broken up there this year working a big female. It just happens at times. Just a suggestion if I might. Skip the fluro leader in that lake you don't need it. There is enough vegitation for braid to blend in if you choose the moss or green colors.

I actually caught that pike, I had an old account on here and moved away for a while, caught it on a regular worm right off the dock!
