I got on the lake by 6am and off at 8am with my limit of Kokanee. I lost a dodger, snubber, and pink wedding ring. I think I put it down to fast and it got stuck in weeds, then my line broke.
I used 2 rods, one with a green sling blade and (snubber) green wedding ring (brass blade on spinner) and a 50/50 dodger with a pink squiddy thang that had a 50/50 blade. Then I switched that rod to a bahama mamma and a pinky-white squiddy thang with a silver blade. 3 fish fell to the squiddy thangs and 2 to the wedding ring with shoepeg corn.
The weather was nice, sunny and the lake was smooth.
I was headed in with my limit when the first boat and skier started going around. 8am.

is it a good idea to cut and bleed them fish as soon as you catch em?

I have done it both ways and I don't notice a difference.

Is it the way the light is hitting the fish in the photo, or are the Kokanee beginning to show spawning colors?

MotoBoat, the dark one is in the shade as he was a bit bent from the ice box. It could be making the other one darker. 2 did have eggs. I took the pic in front of my sliding glass door. It has grids which is that long dark mark on both sides of the fish.

Kokanee don't usually hit spawn until the fall.
