Good job. That is a good looking fish, nice clean fins. so many of them are all tore up. I've never ventured over to the east side to fish muskie. Maybe someday I will.

Congrats. We looked forward to our first trip to Newman this fall. Hope we have your luck. The fish caught while still light has a split tail like I've seen in someone else's photo. Wonder if it's the same fish or some genetic deformity happening. They normally have very broad, solid tail fins and not a fluke.

THE TAILS ON THE FISH IN NEWMAN FOR THE MOST PART HAVE TORN UP TAILS. I'VE HEARD THEY COME THAT WAY FROM THE HATCHERY AND THE TAILS DONT REPAIR FOR SOME REASON. ALMOST EVERY FISH I'VE CAUGHT THERE EXCEPT A COUPLE HAS HAD THAT MESSED UP TAIL ON IT. NICE FISH DOUG KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND KEEP DRAINING THAT LUCK BUCKET LOL.

I couldn't have written this report better my self. Thanks for the credit but I know the truth. It was by your direction that I drove the boat to the hot spots. It was fun watching the master at work. Next time it's my turn to drag em in. As for tomorrow, it's back to what I do best, Pike Fishing. Stay tuned for my report on the chain lakes. "Happy Fishing"

Mark, Thanks for the good words. Hopefully next time it's you hauling them over the gunwales! Can't wait to see your report.

On a side note, Coty and his dad did well yesterday on Newman. Coty got 32" and a 36" fish, and his dad also hauled in a fish. The muskies are hot on Newman right now. Coty's dad commented that the fish weren't fighting much. I think they need to tie into a fish larger than 36".

The 44" I hauled in a couple of weeks ago fought very well........ The 37.5" for our trip wasn't bad either. It's hard to judge with my rod and reel set-up, since I could pretty much just drag them straight in (heavy tackle). Doing that though risks injuring the fish from the fish not being at least a little tired, so we can do our work on them. That 37.5" fish was still green. She didn't let my professional photographer get too many photos before she launched herself out of my hands! Lucky for her she landed in the water.
