Well, took my friend John out to show him the kokanee deal, while it wasn't non-stop action we did put 4 -12 inchers in the bag for him to eat. Other fishermen did't seem to be hitting them, but late in the morn we hit those 4 in an hour. 32 ft. down on the downriggers, silver dodgers with homemade green wedding rings tipped with an inch or so of nightcrawler. Tried the Gulp maggots, no luck, I just don't have any luck with those, real maggots outfish the hell out of them (don't tell Bill Herzog I said so!) but are hard to find at this time of year for me. Also tried mini- green squids on green flashers without any hits, all worm hooked fish were well hooked, don't think they could have shook the hooks, must like those crawler bits. Sorry, nothing picture worthy this time. Bob R.

Hey Bob R...
For the first time in my life, I purchased a synthetic or "manufactured" bait in Berkeley's (sp?) Gulp Natural Colored Maggots. This comes after a lifetime of picking crawlers after a rain, dropping minnow traps, throwing cast nets, jigging pilchards, catching pinfish, and more recently, pumping sandshrimp. A nice person at the boat ramp suggested them, and I have found that two on a wedding ring's hook trolled at a snail's pace is lethal. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and today had the Kokanee portion of the paddle wrapped up by 7:00 a.m.ish, and I feel like a little school kid with as fun as it is.
I smurk a bit each time I bait up, and then I chuckle, and then I accept it and thank the guy who shared their "gulp" name!
Peace...

I just haven't had the luck with them that other people have, I've had the jar two years, it's discolored the top, from the inside, maybe they're rancid? Bob R.
