8/23/2010 12:08:00 AMDid you run two poles at all times with the same set up ? Where did you find a suitable replacement downrigger ball? That is some fiesty action on the water, was it windy and or wet today. Rained better part of the day here at home. Fun day!

8/23/2010 6:15:00 AMI fished two poles and ran the same set-up on both most of the morning. I found the replacement rigger ball some time ago at Wholesale Sports in Burlington, they had a knock-off brand but it was identical to the one sacrificed to the Baker Lake fish gods. The drive up to the lake was wet and then it rained while I was launching but other than that it was dry with broken sunshine all morning. The wind was not much of a problem and in fact the water was flat much of the morning. I was amazed at how much the water level has dropped, we noticed it being lower last weekend, but now it is down 6 to 10 feet from earlier in the season. I can stand at the water line and look up at the high water mark. That may be a good point, with the dropping water levels caution is the way to go at the gravel launches. Also I don’t know how much the water level fluctuates at night but if you are boat camping the changing water level should be considered when you tie the boat up for the night.

8/23/2010 7:32:00 AMWe were in the bright red weldcraft w/ flames...thought I saw you around 7am as we were just getting wet. We did fine, but NOTHING like the action you saw! haha. We had to really work for them this time, but were able to leave by noon.

8/23/2010 1:39:00 PMWhat was following your dodgers? While I was talking to and running alongside a couple in a 14-15’ Lund I had a double. After the fish were safely swimming away we kept talking about rigging and technique. I also gave them some beads, a couple smiley blades, some of my cured shrimp and told them how to use them. I don’t know how they did but I hope it helped. I was primarily fishing two spots that were holding fish about ½ way between the crowd and the Shannon Creek launch. Each blue ball and camera image on the FF snap-shot represents a hook-up. The fish were very location oriented.

8/23/2010 10:07:00 PMBoth the blue spots and the camera icons represent the same thing. When there are a number of icons in one location the unit shows just the blue spots for clarity. The number is the sequential default number assigned by the unit. I can change both the icon and the number. The number can be changed to a word or number of the operators choosing. I never used to use the advanced GPS/record features but am finding them very useful and they were instrumental in my success during the Baker Lake sockeye fishery.
