My daughter and I went fishing along docks in about 10-20 feet of water when I got a large smb on. As I got it to the boat, my line snapped. We stayed in that same area for about 30 more minutes but could not get it again. The next day we went fishing in the same spot and my daughter caught a large smb, a little over 3 pounds and 18 inches long. Sure enough, when we looked inside its mouth, my gear from the day before was there!

Wow that is pure luck. I bet that never happens again. I`ve only caught a few that have ever been hooked before. Nice job always good to get the gear back and save the fish.

Nice fish and nice job getting the kid out to the lake. It's a great way to keep them busy and out of trouble. Happy Fishing

You bring up a very good point, in catching your fish again, as I have caught a fair number of fish in my time adorned with jewelry, it proves they can survive just fine with a hook in them. Most of the time the hooks will rust away a lot quicker than you would ever believe. So the point I think to make here is that we have all hooked those smaller fish or fish and release and get one really deep or too close to the eye etc, well the best thing to do is cut the line as close to the hook and let the fish go, but hang around a bit to make sure they don't float up and a gull gets it... Good job by you and yours!
