Had a craving for salmon, but given the horrible reports from the Snohomish and Stillaguamish, figured I'd have better luck going for kokanee.

Hit Cavanaugh in my tube with the same setup I've had on my pole all year, which is an egg sinker stopped with a swivel, and about 30 inches of leader on a wedding ring. Sometimes I tip it with pink powerbait, sometimes not... doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I've had consistently good luck on Cavanaugh with this setup.

Method is kind of like trolling (as good as one can troll in a tube powered with the flippers on your feet). Cast far, let it sink maybe 20 feet, start kicking and reeling slowly. Kicking by itself you'll go too slow to start the spinner, but combined with slow reeling seems to do the trick. I have noticeably worse luck when I'm not kicking.

Fished about 2 hours, caught 3 12" kokes, had a few more bites but couldn't set the hook. They were big enough to get a decent fillet out of them. The weather was great and I was the only one on the lake. Now that summer's over I don't have jerks trying to hit me with their speedboats every 5 minutes.

I've been wanting to go there since reading a great report a few weeks back where limits were had by all. In fact as I write this reply, I'm seriously considering hooking up the boat and going there this afternoon. Thanks for your report.
