My 11yr son and I went out to lake sammamish at sunrise we worked the water column for a good 2hrs till we had any bites! Once we were on the NW side of the lake in 80ft of water my son had a huge take down turned out to be a sockeye / AKA kokanee a fat one at that back to the under world it went . So I then proceeded to bring my gear up to his depth wich was 25ft and with in seconds I had MR. kok on the other end of my line back it went also so rather being off shore aways I made my slight turn into the shore line and bam kids pole pops off HELLO MR. cutt. just what we were out for so for the next 4hrs between my son and I we boated 3 koks , 13 cutts , 1 perch , and 1 small mouth bass lost a few at the boat and kept a few for the smoker! We were runing a red wedding ring with a brass blade single hook tiped with a worm 25' down 45 to 65 pulls back 60ft to 80ft off water and speed was at 1.5 - 1.8 MPH All the meat was bright orange !

I had the same recipe on Lake WA. last night with my 11 y/o son also. Except it was no dice at all. Maybe will have to try Sammamish one of these times. What size were your cutts. I have heard that they tend to run smaller in Sammamish compared to Lake WA. but who knows.

good for you ! great report. somebody called us a liar on this site but this report just confirms that there are fish there. I personally do not like this lake due to so many trips and catching very little. We are rookies at fishing but had 2 wonderful outings the last week so we will return to this lake

Kokanee are CLOSED on Lake Sammamish. read the regs. you must release them on this lake.

You mentioned the NW part of the lake. Since I only have an electric motor on my 'portabote', I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as to how or rather where I could carry-in my boat on the north end.
I'm not very familiar with Sammamish, but I wonder if Idyllwood Park would be possible, or might I be breaking some laws/rules.

dkelliott3 I dont know for sure you should be able to troll down to the area with a E-motor or even just in front of the park would be good ! sorry the launch is the only place I know of.
