I got my portable fish finder back from hummingbird so thought I would try a new lake today. I went to Flowing Lake 10:30am to 4pm. I arrived and was only one in parking lot like that. Lake was calm and Sun was out. I started on far end left of launch and hit lilly pads saw a few jump out deep and had on rat l trap and top water rapala in perch. I got no hits in pads and all I got out of rat l trap was salad. Lake on that end is full of weeds. I hit docks and no luck down opposite side from launch...guy was burning in his yard and wind was blowing my way so jumped over to launch side and worked my way down the shoreline. Got no bites and saw some fish deep as I cut across and tried jig on bottom but no bites. Made it to far end of lake before I got a bite. I was close to state park on right side and tossed by dock and some wood in water and about third twitch caught a 10" Largemouth Bass. Good fight and nice to avoid the skunk landed him about 1:30pm. I had been to this lake when I was 10 or 11 in a canoe but never fished it we stayed at state park and remember lots of lilly pads and big rock we jumped off to swim. Lilly pads by rock are gone due to all the houses and docks. I tried the creek by state park and put on buzz bait and had a hit but he missed it. I tried the docks by state park and had a bite and then nature called. So hit the porta pottie and got a stalker a duck started following me around and was like a foot away...people must feed them otherwise they wouldn't come so close. I put on countdown rapala in Bass color and about 3rd cast towards middle FISH ON! And this one was a wiggler so knew it was a trout...and was confirmed a second later when he jumped. I got him to the boat and yep left the net at home...so was debating what to do and lifted him up to get him out of the water and he shook off and splashed me good. From my trips to Lake Lenore he was good sized trout 16"+ easy might of been 18". But I was going to let him go so no harm no foul. Then the wind picked up! I got to rock and far end and saw a channel leading away so did some top water in there and yep caught another bass 8" this time. I got him by carpeted dock and he ended up being hung on carpet with front hook and he was on back hook. Funny had to go over and use my pliers to get him loose. After that wind was howling so decided to row back and troll the rapala back. I was going into the wind whole way. No bites trolling back and quit at 4pm. Any one have any tips on bassin at Flowing lake beside August when it is warm?

All fish catch and release.
No photos this time left my carmera at a friends house.

Good luck out there.

James, Flowing used to be one of my fav zones for wake-boarding until femur/tib-fib rods/place/etc... Prior, I LOVED fishing it; currently, I have fished it. I have tried all my old spots and not been skunked, but rather shocked w/ a couple 11-13" Largemouths in middle of the lake as well as just trolling .7mph - 1.8mph. It was rocking last spring after busting ankle skiing, but now, IF Storm would ALLOW my yamaha lifted up and JUST use my trolling motor, I'd hit that! Storm always kicked arse. My problem is that I am NO longer into the float-tubing. You mentioned "rowing". wioll that means you dont need a cherry-picker to remove your motor. I loved the times when it was <8mph and then when we just had to put a garbage-sack over our outboards. Funny thing about the largemouth, hit a wedding-ring green-hammered brass w/ self-tied dual hook w/ crawler. Im rethinking getting a cheesy aluminum and throw one of my large Motor-guides on it! Keep me updated on your ventures!

thanks for the tips. I got new boat so it is like a row boat with high back. I have a 1hp electric trolling motor just need a new battery. I just timed it wrong and had to row back into the wind. I am going out tomorrow but think might go up north to Wiser it is pretty shallow lake and had luck fishing there before. It is by Ferndale bit of a drive from Everett but should be worth the trip. I got that trout on bass colored rapala and did that earlier hit some perch on bass colored and have hit lots of bass and crappie this year on perch color.

My bro lives outside of Ferndale, maybe he has a positive word. Also, I have a deep-cycle kicking around somewhere betweeen Everett and Skykomish. I picked up a rather large RV-one and frankly, the other one tests well on all SIX cells and runs nicely. I will only get like $8.00 from Pacific Battery IF i get around to take in, so let me know if you want me to look for it. I tested all cells w/ liquid-tester a couple weeks ago; i just forgot where I stored it now!

Oh, BTW, since you are set up for non-combustion, HIT Storm!!! That lake has much less pressure on it since years ago when they cut off the outboards. Good bass AND trout in there IF you can put in!

I will try storm sometime heard big trout in there and some 1lb bass. But need the trolling motor to do that one.

Yep I am up for battery if you got it 360-333-7887 my cell thank you. Went to Wiser today nice sunny and lake was full of geese, Canadian goose and seagulls. I only caught 2 no skunk but 6.5" and 6" on top water wasn't worth the drive. Algee was in full bloom too nothing like green slime at boat launch just got done washing the boat. I think got to hit lakes with Trout in them as the trout should be active now.
