11/16/2010 6:31:00 PMwow, i love those pictures, the best ones i have seen in a very long time. Nice job. I have never fished that lake before, i know it is a selective lake fishery. How deep were the fish hanging out at? I don't have a fish finder and only a small trolling motor. Anyhow, nice report. Stay safe out there.

11/16/2010 7:05:00 PMThanks for the compliment bazzdude. We spent most of our time trolling right along the shore in what I guess would be 6-12 feet of water. There I would have only one color of line out. (that's 10 yards of 27# lead core line) followed by about 10' of mono filament 4# leader.
However, we had hookups out in the middle with two or three colors of line out. Where there is 25-40' of water depth. I think this month it would be good fishing at about any depth or location. Dave

11/17/2010 9:12:00 PMo well ok, thanks for the tips; i am not sure what you are talking about with the color of line and all. I just want to catch some nice trout.I am not a fly fisherman. Thanks and i will do a post after i fish it. It closes the ind of the month i think and can not keep any fish. Single barbless hooks are a must. I am looking forward to my trip.

11/18/2010 8:50:00 AMNo matter....you shouldn't need lead-core line anyway. The fish are not deep. Look forward to your post. I'm dying to get back there once more before Nov. 30th. Am going the extra mile for wifey this weekend so I might get 'released' for a long day east over Thanksgiving weekend.

11/23/2010 7:36:00 AMI've been fishing Amber for 18 years. It is the only lake I fish. I only troll. Love the looks on the fly fishers faces when I am catching 2 fish to every one of thiers!

11/23/2010 9:18:00 AMAmber is now my 'go to' lake now that I've experienced C & R for the first time. It seems the action of the gear attracts the fishes attention like shiney new tools to the do-it-yourselfer. Props to flyfishermen though as they do have 40 and 50 fish days when they dial in on a hatch. And, there's nothing quite like having the line in your hand when a fish HITS.That's a feeling only gotten on a fly setup.
I have occassionally come across a snobbish fly'er, like last Saturday, but life's too short.......fish on.

11/25/2010 6:15:00 PMo ya, i went to amber last weekend and cought the most beautifull fish i have seen in years, a 17in bow using a rapalla(single barbless of course) i am thinkin of trying it again next november. Nice quiet lake, no trash and beer cans eveywhere. I was woundering what kind of trolling methooods you guys use here and how deep. I am not much of a trout guy i like to catch and release bass mostly but i do like the single barbless catch and releast, does not hurt the fish at all i was very inpressed with that. I have coughten a lot of fish and put them in the net and all the hooks get cought but this way the only hook is already cought in the mouth. I liked the feeling of not hurting the fish once it het the net. Usually the net(roll) is what hurts the fish. Any how, stay safe out there.
