Hit potholes about noon, the weather was great to start, sun was out just beautiful, but didnt last long once the clouds rolled in it got cold. Water temp was 36 degress targeted walleye using blade baits. Ended up with 5, once the sun went behind the clouds the walleye stopped hitting. Good to be on water for sure. The bigger one was released so she could spawn.

Any chance that you know if Upper or Lower Goose are fishable yet? I heard they were still iced over.

Nice. Funny how sun drives them deep in the warm water but brings them up in cold water.

I dont know much about walleye fishing, Blade baits? Is this a term for a worm harness? I've heard the term blade bait but just cant picture it. Also are you trolling, drifting, and at what speed is best? Never fished for Walleye but I plan on trying it out this year, just looking for some advice.

JWS, basically a blade bait is a piece of metal with lead attached in the shape of a fish. http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.cfm/vibrating-blade-baits/blade-baits:2146 here is a link to what they look like. There are several ways to fish them. On this day we found humps in the dunes and casted the baits on the flat of the humps and work them back with a jigging technique. I really dont like to fish them because they foul very easy. The key is to make sure you feel the bait vibrate on the lift. If not then it is fouled. I tried jigs but they didnt produce like the blade baits

Do the blade bait's in the link have much action when retrieved at a constant speed, without any jigging action? Would there be less fouling with single hooks in place of each treble? I have no clue if the single hook helps. But, am curious to know if it does.

They have a little action but for the optimal action they have to be moved fairly quickly. And you could use a single hook which does equal less foul ups but alot less hook ups too. I have tried this approach. Best thing I have found is to go to a smaller treble which really helps maybe one out of five casts foul but better hook up percentage.
