After getting skunked at Nahwatzel, my partner and I moved over to Spencer, as reports were good. Hooked four, biggest was 14 inches, caught a larged jawed, heavilly spotted brownish trout. My pal thought it was a cutthroat. After checking it out futher at home, it appeared to be a brown trout. (sorry no picture) . Are there any Browns in Spencer? Still fishermen were doing well on small stockers. Any thoughts on the Brown Trout?

For Nahwatzel, try a black rooster tail way back and high. For plants in Spencer, its only Cutts and RBT.

I guess I'm use to the sea-run cutts. This guy didn't fight at all!

Could have been a cutbow trout. I thought I was catching smaller browns (10-14 inches) that were dark green/brown and they turned out to be cutbows. (A hybrid between rainbow and cutts)

Yes Brown trout in Spencer lk. Not very many, would like to see state add more. Using size 9 floating Rapala trolled slow next to docks & south end reeds. I have got many 1-2 lb browns fishing this way in Spencer & many other lakes is washington. Don't forget that Spencer has a strain of dark brownish/yellow cutts from 5ft away they look like browns.
