Got a trolling motor from a guy near Green Lake and had some time to try out the new ultralight rod. Threw a black rooster tail and got a small rock bass under the T-dock. Later switched to a black and white Rapala crankbait and got another one. Started to panic a little cuz I was going to release the second rock bass but realized I left my tweezers in the car. The treble hooks were pretty hard to get out by hand so I had to be careful not to hurt the little guy too much and not hook my own hand either. Decided that was enough with the gear so switched to the fly rod. Lots of hits but somehow couldn't get them to stick today. Left the camera at home to dry after it got wet yesterday. Sorry no pics today.

Nice work, once you know where the rock bass are camping out, you can take several of them without fear of the school moving away. it's a good chance to test equipment/technique. Trolling motor, cool.

Tweezers?? How big was he? Just kidding, aggressive rock bass are lots of fun on light tackle. So, what did you put the motor on?

Gonna put the motor on a 12 foot canoe. The motor is a Minn Kota Endura with 38 lbs of thrust. Not sure how much speed that translates too, but we'll find out on Thursday. Yeah, ultralights are definitely more challenging but also more fun!
