We put our canoe in the water at about 6PM this evening from the boat ramp. The weather was overcast and a light wind was blowing. The ambient temp was about 55 degrees and luckily for us it was not raining at the moment, but it had rained early in the day.
There were 3 or 4 people at the boat ramp fishing from the shore and they had a stringer with at least half a dozen stocker rainbows on it. So it looked to be a promising day. These guys were using power bait about 12 inches off the bottom.

I troll while paddling my canoe and a two rod setup. Started down the West edge of the lake with a nymph on one rod and a hook with a worm on the other. I had the lines at varying depth and had little luck all the way down the west half of the lake. Once I got to the end I switched to a wedding ring on one rod and a small "Super Duper" on the other. I let out about 60 feet of line on both and started a slow paddle. Almost immediately the super duper rigged pole started dancing. I grabbed the rod, set the hook and brought my first standard sized stocker rainbow into the boat. He gobbled the treble pretty deep and I was not sure he would survive if I put him back in the water, so I kept this one. I switched the other rod over to a super duper lure as well, so that I was now running the same setup on both.
This worked GREAT.
Gold super duper with a tiny bit of red on one end and no bait, 6lb test monfilament, no weights, and trolled VERY slowly behind the boat.
We brought over a dozen fish to the boat in a little over 2 hours and I kept 2 for dinner.
The lake had about 3 other boats out on it and maybe 6 people fishing from the shore. Everyone seemed to be getting fish.
I had all of my hookups right about in the center of the lake and seemed to be at or near the bottom.
One of the rainbows jumped out of the water and right into the lap of the girl that was fishing with me. :)

The lake was good, weather was fine, and it was a really great way to spend the evening.
