If I was a fishaholic, I geuss I would be on a dink binge. I think it has just been bad timing with the weather. I launched out of boat launch by the base and fished towards little american lake. There were no fish that way. I just wanted stay out of hurricane force winds.
I decided to head over to island to fish some deeper water and picked up one smallie about a pound. It was my first one on this lake so at least the skunk is off. I was d-shotting in about 8ft. I had a few more hits but they all felt small.
The wind blew hard the whole time and rained about half. A few boats were out, but didn't talk to anyone. Water was 60/61.
It seems like the rock bass would be bigger with how aggresive they are. Lure is 3 in. long

I've put an underwater camera down in American several times. There are a ton of perch and rock bass down there. And they bite in all sizes. I have found to the left of the boat launch has not been very productive for smallies any time of the year. I've taken some nice ones off the face of the island in front of the boat launch, but usually mid summer on. The face of the big island, facing the boat launch is not the best during spawn. But mid summer thru fall it can be very good at times. I've taken two over 4, and lots of twos and threes between that dock that's been built to look like a tug boat and where it shallows up into reeds to the left. Anyway, just a little imfo.

All the places I would like to fish are out of range with the eletric motor, especially with the wind. I had to row back, I knew I was gonna though. It is better than no boat though. The city still wants me to pay to launch on other side, but I don't think I will.
