Up fairly early, for an old guy, and fishing just after 6:00 AM. Two trout anglers were fishing from the access and 2 or 3 boats were on the water as I launched. Later, there were at least a dozen boats on the water but I think they were all trout anglers. Fishing was tough but I did manage to catch a nice 17 1/4 inch, 3 pounder. Very nice early morning on the water with almost no wind. Fished mostly Rapalas and jigs. Hooked the fish on a size 11 floating Rapala. She was not on a nest so I put her in a cooler full of clean, cool water and released her at the access after a trout angler took a photo for me. She was in great shape and swam away briskly. The trout anglers were amazed to see such a nice fish released. And, yes, I know a bass caught off a nest should probably be released immediately at the same location. Another nice day on one of the beautiful lakes of Washington!

So there are bass in Devereaux now? Its been several years ago, but a friend and I bass fished it. Though it looked very bassy, never touched or saw a bass. Finally a woman fishing on her dock told us that the lake had been reabilitated, and all that was in the lake now was trout. So we headed over to Spenser. I take it that some bass lovers must have dumped some in there.

Yes Ricky - there are plenty of nice bass in Devereaux. I have been catching them for several years now. Also perch and sunfish. They are not easy to catch in the clear water and no gas engines are allowed on the lake. Good fishin' Bob
