7/9/2011 7:05:00 PMForgot to mention that I ended up with about 12 decent sized perch and 6 or so decent rock bass to take home. Smallies were released. Also, most of the fish came on the cut-bait early on. Then mid morning I switched to a small 3 inch plastic fishie and thats what the rock bass seemed to like. Apparently the post spawn fry feed is on good right now out there. They pretty much ignored the plastic worm from about 8am on.

7/10/2011 11:47:00 AMWhen I want a nice batch of perch out of American, I drop shot a 3 inch plastic with a rubbing of Smelly Jelly on it. The perch eat it up. And because of the size of the bait, I usually only hook the larger perch. And if I can stay on top of the school using my graph recorder, I'll catch them all day long. And when the sun is up thats usually close to the bottom in 25 to 35 feet of water.

7/10/2011 12:19:00 PMThats pretty much the same method I use, Ricky. Larger bait, larger fish. I was trying some areas that I had located unique structure on a few months back. I did get a few fish on each of these isolated spots in depths from 35-50 feet. One of my most productive methods for the larger perch has been a Texas rigged Zoom U-Tail worm hopped along the bottom in 35-60 feet. The larger ones seem to not be tightly schooled so it takes some moving around for me to find them. Most of the time when I locate schools of perch, they tend to be smaller ones.
