MY family and me went to Riffe lake for some weekend fishing. When we got there friday night; it was overcast but a comfortable temperature. The next morning it was raining hard, but it subsided at about ten o' clock. My family went up the river to fish at the dam while my cousin and me took the boat out on the lake. When we got the boat into the water and out further into the lake it started to pour again, making the experience very miserable. No bites for the first three hours, we started to head back to get some food when I got a bite! We were trolling when my pole started to bent like crazy and when I set the hook the salmon breached the water about thirty feet away. It didn't fight which is odd, because it was a good sized fish. We pulled the fish into the boat, measured him and kept him, he was 17inches. We started again towards the boat launch, and after twentie minutes I got another bite! This time it was a small mouthed bass, and it fought way harder than the salmon. The bass was 16inches. About ten minutes after I caught the bass our motor died and we spent the next hour rowing the boat with the oars.
The next day we were going to head home at around five o' clock pm, so we decided to head out at around seven to the river to fish for silver trout. We left and got to the spot only to find a great deal of early bird fishermen already in the spot, so we found another spot further down the river. We used corn, worms, huckleberries, and some shrimp my cousins had. The fish were largley responsive to the shrimp, corn, and the worms, but the fish that we caught were at a average of 8inches long. As the day progressed it started to rain harder than before, but as the rain increased so did our luck. We started pulling in 12inchers. That day my family caught suckerfish, squawfish, and silver trout. Almost everyone in my family had caught their limits exept me, the fish were biting but not the hook, the kept taking my bait. I'm pretty sure I only caught two fish all day. All in all everyone had a good time even if it was always raining, definitely will go back but i'll check the weater forecast before I do.
