Finally got a chance to fish Liberty Lake. My back yard neighbor Sean and I decided that Wednesday would be a good day because we wanted to avoid the weekend crowds. The launch at Liberty is small and only has 1 ramp. On weekends it could take a long time waiting in line to launch or come out of the water. Sean was using my pontoon boat and I was in my jon boat. I started by trolling the north end with a Giant Cowbell and an F-4 flatfish in a perch scale pattern. I caught one LM Bass at about 8:30 that measured 2 1/2 inches. Then nothing more till I got to the second point south on the west side. I anchored and had one voraciouis hit but missed him. Sean was consentrating on the bay at the N/W corner. He was fishing orange power bait with a worm just off the bottom. He hooked and released 4 small perch and bass. I joined him and did just as well using only worms just off the bottom. One water skiing boat was on the lake and paying no attetion to anyone else. They came full throttle straight at me then veered sharp to the right. The wake almost swamped my boat. I was pleased to have my cell phone with me, so I called Crime Check and reported them as water skiing without a spotter. I don't know if the authorities caught them or not but it was gratifying to be able to at least report them. Other than that, it was a very pleasant day on the water. All fish were returned healthy.

"the salmon are running bro. Perch... no"

Might be so fishenfreak, but in Spokane, salmon - no, perch - yes. Great report Joe, and glad to hear you reported the unwise water skiers. Often they think the lakes belong to them and they don't have to abide by boating rules as to speed and distance from other boats. Who knows, maybe someone paid them a visit after your call. :-)
