Yesterday was salmon in the sound, today was perch on the lake. Took the fam out for a 1/2 day of swimming and tubing. We anchored up on a shelf in 23 feet of water and the boy and I started catching perch from the first cast. We ended up catching around 40 over a couple hours, keeping only fish over 8". Came home with 16. We used 1/16 oz jigs; color didn't matter though red and black curlytails tipped w/perch meat worked well. Water temp was 73.

We always used jigs tipped with perch eyes ice fishing in North Dakota. Just get past catching the first fish and you had bait the rest of the day. ;) They would just HAMMER the eyes. Try that next time. Maybe it works out west too !! :)

eyes work fine, but the perch meat with the skin on will stay on the hook for a loooong time :). We actually started tipping with worms, but the skin-on-meat is the way to go. . .

I also use, pech that swallow the hook . i just club them over the head and make lots of bait from one perch.. Never tried eyes, good thought

I've seen eye removers made from a paper clip or a number 2 or 4 jig hook. Eyes can be very good.

Beeler5, Kenmore boat launch is on Lake Washington. You can find perch in Sammamish everywhere. Look for weedlines, shelves, or structure on the bottom in 15-30 feet of water this time of year. Deeper when the water temp is colder. The launch is on the south end of the lake. Yesterday i was fishing in the middle of the lake on the east shore (which was new to me). Usually I fish on the north end near the old docks with orange traffic cones on the pilings. Or on the south end directly across from the launch just east of the creek/sandbar.
