Went to the Ship Canal that flows between Lake Union and the Ballard Locks after work. I was shore fishing on the Fremont side. Fished for a couple hours with a friend and caught one dink on a GY chartreuse double-tailed grubb. We got a few bites that we didn't hook. Are there any good sized bass in here during this time of year? Any tips?

My wife works on lake union and when I pick her up I always look at the water under her building. I've seen some nice sized largies and a couple good smallies sharking through under the boats. Haven't fished the ship canal since last year though.

What did you use to catch that troll?! hehe. I fish this area quite frequently and yes, there are some nice size smallies in there. Caught a nice 2lber yesterday morning. They just seem harder to get than the abundant of dinks in there so you have to stay persistant and patient. Good luck!

Also, don't be afraid to move up and down the Burke Gillman trail if you arent getting any bites in any one area. If it's slow, keep moving.
