Fished Downs Lake for the first time today. Typically cool spring day with rain and then sun. Some wind right before the rains showers. Only a couple of people fishing this unusual lake that has lots of large lily pads with deeper channels and open areas.. Fished for 5 hours and only caught 4 rainbows, 1 crappie, and one small bass. I understand that this can be a good crappie and perch lake but they need some warmer weather and water to get active. We will try again in June. As this was our first time, if you have any secrets to catching large perch and crappies let us know.
