I fish Newman Lake a lot, It's a great lake for bass, has smallies and a lot of Large mouth. I have fished that lake on many occasions this year and caught 20 or more bass each day, many 2 1/2 lbs or more. Other fisherman have told me they have caught 8 lb largemouth in this lake, but I have not seen any pictures of them !!!! On Aug 1st I caught a nice 6.0 lb Largemouth using a tube bait in 4 ft of water. From the looks of how healthy that fish was, I think that it is possible 8 pounders are there. I've seen many muskies in that lake, some very large (40 inch's and more), caught one in the pads while bass fishing, he hit my top-water buzz-bait. I don't think that the virus they had in 2001 on the lake has affected this lake too much ..... there are plenty of nice bass here to catch, the bass I catch appear to be very healthy and fat.
