Headed to Bitter Lake today with a friend and the canoe. Got on the water at about 6:15 and it was windy! The trolling motor helped to cut through that and it wasn't long before we had our first hook ups. My friend casted a spinner bait parallel to some lilly pads and on the first cast, BAM! He shags a nice 12 inch rainbow trout. Not what we were looking for but good enough. I pitch under some docks with a spinner bait I found in a bush last year and BAM! A 1 pounder at least. Not bad for an ultralight rod. Then we headed over what looked like an inlet cove and Chuck pitched his Texas-rigged salamander and had a bass get a good look at his bait swim by and tap it, but he missed the strike. One more cast in to the lillies and BAM! Second LMB for us that day and then that was it. The temp dropped very quickly and the wind picked up. Saw a couple of trout jumpers but no hooks up after LMB #2. Weather was cold but sunny and gorgeous. Chuck was throwing nice casts with his bait casting rod. Reminded me that I need to start looking into a good casting rod to go with my Abu Garcia baitcasting reel. :)

Thx. For the bitter report. Maybe it will shape up for a good year at bitter.
