Finally! I got a Kok!

I arrived at the lake around 0700 and went out to meet WA Lake member Lou Smith (who was already fishing). We talked for a bit and he gave me advice on kokanee fishing that really help a ton.

Weather was overcast with a cold wind blowing, water temp was around 63. I focused my efforts on northeast part of the lake anywhere from 18'-30' of water. My first set up was flat lining a 4/0 dodger with a red wedding ring baited with shoepeg corn and gulp maggots. This got me many, many bites, but nothing stuck. That died so I hooked up the downrigger and tried various depths with no success. I switched my lure over to a pink hoochie on the surface which got me a few more bites. Again, nothing stuck. I then switched to a pink wedding ring and put it 9' on the rigger. This got me many bites and finally the nice 11" kok in pic. My battery died around 1300 so I headed in. I rated today a 3 since this is my first kok and I know I had opportunity for more.

I want to thank members Lou Smith and Toni for all the advice they've given me on kokanee fishing. These are fun and frustrating fish. I've def caught the bug.

I just fried it for breakfast, tasted pretty good. I was expecting the meat to be red, but it was a nice orange color

Thanks king and koka, I just may try meridian one of these days
