I bought a new pole so I was itchin to break it in. I think the best part about the pole was the price, $38 after tax! Its a diawa 7ft 8-17lb baitcaster. I only had a couple hours to fish, but do to the weather conditions I just slowly fished down the bank. I caught a little guy to break it in. He hammered a spinnerbait though. As soon as it hit the water that fish had already swan two feet with it. I wish I could get a vicious strike like that from a 5 or 6 pounder. That was the only fish of the day. After that the rain and wind came in. I took a picture of the rain from water level, you can kinda see the rain drops hitting the water then bouncing back up.

I got caught in the same kind of rain storm on Friday at American Lake. The carpet in my boat is still drying out. I always thought Rapjohn is a fun little lake to fish. You usually don't catch many big ones, but you always seem to catch fish. And Rapjohn is a quiet lake, away from the hiway, and not a home one on its banks. A great place to enjoy what fishing is all about....a quiet place to relax and just enjoy the day. Though I fish weightess plastics alot on that lake, it can be a good spinnerbait lake. On one crazy day after the wind came up I switched to a spinnerbait and was fishing around the shoreline without much success. I was at the end of the lake to the right of the boatlaunch, with my boat edged up against the pads. I turned around and rifled a cast out into the middle of the lake to clear my level wind, and immediately got hammered when I began my retrieve. To make a long story short, for the next hour, without moving my boat, I caught 26 bass casting out into open water. One time 6 bass on 6 casts......Though I have tried the same trick many times since then on that lake, I have never had it happen again.....Go figure!!
