First fish of the season!

Camping trip out to Millersylvania , had to pack up the fishing gear. I've had limited time this year to get out anywhere, so this was a great opportunity to get in some time while my friends slept the morning away (go figure, one of the few girls in the group and I'm the only one out catching lunch). Hit the lake at about 615ish (turned my phone on once before heading out to check messages, so it's my best guess at the time) with two other people on the dock. Threw out chart/white powerbait and let the waiting begin. Half an hour goes by, and the two guys have pulled in two or three from the prime spot off the dock. Pole finally went wild. There was no soft hit with the game of "I think that might have been a bite," it was game on from the start. First time with the reel, and the drag was as loose as it gets. Got it tight and brought it in. Nice 14-15 inches. Onto the stringer and out again. Another half an hour, and the pole goes crazy. This time got a good fight out of it, around 15-16 inches. Another few hours, and nothing. A few other people showed up, and collectively three more were brought in. The fishing hadn't really died down, but I was happy to pack it all up back to camp for breakfast. Cooked one of them later that evening for dinner. The meat was pretty pink, and tasted great!

Word of warning to anyone fishing this lake though - apparently there is a sneaky little otter who occasionally hangs out under the docks skillful at stealing fish off of stringers without making much noise. Bring a cooler or bucket or risk loosing your fish!
