Met my buddy Randy in Monroe bright and early and headed out to Flowing Lake. We were on the lake in his little trolling boat by about 7:30 am. We motored down the East side of the lake to a hole he wanted to try Power Bait in. I threw lures for awhile while he tied up. Not a single bump or follow on any of my old standards (Mepps, Kastmaster, Roostertail, Red & White Spoon...etc.).

In the meantime, Randy basically drops his line straight down off the side of the boat. He was using Rainbow Power Bait. A couple of minutes later his line gets slammed by a fat, feisty 12" Rainbow that goes ballistic trying to get away. After helping him net his fish I change my setup for Green Power Bait. I throw my line about 20' off the other side of the boat and as I'm setting the pole down it starts bouncing, "Fish on!" It's pulling line and going crazy. I feel a big shake and it's, "Fish off." We both get excited!!

For the next 40 minutes or so the fish are hitting our bait practically before the weight had even touched bottom. Randy limited out without throwing a single cast!! His fish were all beautiful fat 12" - 13" Rainbows. While the bite was on, I caught the two bows in the first picture, lost a few in the heat of battle, and got robbed of my bait at least a dozen times. Found out later when I cleaned my fish that the bigger one had a belly full of my Green Power Bait. Must have robbed me 5 or 6 times before I caught him!!

After the bite died down we decided to troll to see if I could pickup my other fish. Didn't take long!! We made the loop around the South end of the Lake to the West side. I fished a green wedding ring with a piece of worm and a flashing rig Randy called a Cowbell about 30' behind the boat. I got all three fish by the time we made it to the North end of the lake. My fish ranged from 11" - 13". Not a bad way to spend the morning. Had a great time with my friend and we both went home with our limits!

Tight Lines!!

I've been enjoying the FLowing and Storm area a lot lately too. Limiteds out on Storm via my float-tube in about 45min. Just been too lazy to write up. Hit Flowing twice this week during middle of the day trolling a dual-hook strung crawler and a garlic poweregg on the leading hook. they seem to hit the garlic for most of the take-downs. Started using Anise on the whole leader as well. seems to add a new spin to them. Have fun!

The directions to the lake are a bit scary for a first timer there. Are power motors allowed or is it just electric?
