My Dad and brother came up to visit from Idaho and they planting Kokanee in some lakes near them and since Ive been fishing for them and catching them they wanted tips in how to do it. We got to the lake a little after sunrise getting them up early wasnt easy. Motored up to the Islands from the launch and started my training lesson got the first pole in the water and started on the next rod on the other downrigger and I call out FISH ON and my dad and brother just sit there looking at the pole dancing. I look at them Huh fish on grab the pole my dad finally gets up grabs the pole starts to real in feels the fish then gone it goes. I knew then it was going to be a long day of training. I had pink and chartreuse lures with wonderbread, grean and pink and pink splater flasher/dodgers. Chartreuse with with some pink seemed to work the best. I also used corn on one of the rods and had bites without it. I had to grab the rods and hand them to my Brother or Dad so they would real them in. They would say its my turn but I would tell them I will get one on the next trip. Our depth was 30-45 ft deep in 60-70ft of water. trolling at 1.0-1.4 mph. We got 3 limits and 5 of them were cuts. We released a bunch that were really small most at 11-13 inches and a few at 14-15. One nice cutt at 16 inches. The plan was to release all the cutts but some were hooked deep and bleed bad before I could get the hooks out. There were spunky fighters. All had a great time and really liked the action on those kokanee light action rods. I know have lures to tie up for my Dad and brother. Sorry about no pics We all set out our cameras and left them on the table next to the cooler with snacks. We were hungry after getting the boat on the trailer.
