Got to the Lake at 8:00 a.m. and started trolling for trout up the west undeveloped side toward my favorite Perch spot. I did not get a single hit for the first half hour using a green trolling fly with flashers while having about three colors, of leaded line, out. This lack of action is abnormal for Waitts so since it has been so hot, I decided to go with five colors and troll in 40 to 50 feet of water. From then on, I had no trouble finding the trout. Furthermore, I was amazed that I repeated this on the way back in during the hottest part of the day. Even with water skiers bouncing me around and jet skies buzzing within fifty feet of my small boat, I was still connecting with good size Rainbows. Anyway, I had come for the Perch and was not disappointed. They are still in 15 to 20 foot of water just off the heavier weed beds. I typically have a lot of success with darker color Crappie jigs in bright sun and white color jigs when it is cloudy. I fish this lake a lot and have not seen that many people going after perch this year. Please do not let the noisy water activity at this lake detour you from fishing this gem of a lake. There are still lots of 10 inch perch in this lake although 30 of them came home with me this weekend.

Nice to hear a positive report from a local lake I will certainly give waitts a go. I have a few days off during the week so maybe the weekend jet ski warriors will be getting some rest ha-ha.
