Went to cassidy today to see if the largemouth bite was there since I boycotted this lake in the past. I thought I'd give it another try since its the end of summer and we have had warm weather the last couple months. Plus I live close by. Fished from noon to about 5. Used weightless senkos and topwater frogs and had two bites on them both within the first 15 min I was there. Also used a small white skirt buzz bait through the reeds and by logs. Fished about half way around the lakes edges in my boat. Nothing. Didnt see anybody else fishing there the whole time. I consider myself a good bass angler but this place sucks. I don't care what anybody says. Cassidy has the looks for sure and it makes you wish the bass would bite like they do in the south. But they don't. Its too bad because its such a nice lookin lake. Iam off to Banks lake on sunday and can't wait.

@Amx Make sure your fishing for bass. I know its good for crappie and trout. I know theres bass in there but its a very tough lake to fish. I'd like to see how Roland Martin would turn out on it. lol

That can be a very tough lake, I live close too and won't fish it unless conditions are perfect, like south wind, low barometer, and overcast, even then its nothing to write home about. I have had some decent success with a black/blue buzzbait, the clacker type, and I paint 1 side black if that helps. There is no such thing as too shallow in that lake either, some of my bigger fish have come from less than a foot and a 1/2 of water. Some biologist were doing a study there not long ago and they said that there is not enough dissolved oxygen in that lake below 5 feet to sustain any life for the fish, so, that narrows things down somewhat. I have been chasing smallies lately in goodwin in 25-30 feet of water, and having a blast. Good luck at Banks u lucky dog!

on hot days you need to fish that lake in the morning hours or after 5pm. black and blue work great for that muddy stained water.

Bass is all I fish for. But I've been skunked on the local lake that I've been fishing for 30 plus years, maybe 40 years. Lets see. 2012 minus 1973 is what? LOTS of years. Calculater says 39 years. :-)

Woody is right. Largemouth bass fishing is best early and late in the day. On the bright side, crappie and perch are plentiful and easy to catch...

I know what you mean Slayer. I've fished there off & on for almost 20yrs and have done great at times but mostly it's frustrating as heck. Most luck on Senkos & plastics of various kinds. When the kids were little it was fun to catch a ton of perch (even a catfish!).
I'll probably be out there tomorrow in my pontoon boat, hoping for the best........
