Had a really late start today. Another foggy morning out on the water.

Started trolling with a needlefish.
After 1 hour, my only bite and fish was a perch.

Then I tried to target for some SMB. Used a RC STX jerkbait and a small soft swimbait. Fished around a few docks, 1 point, and a couple of dropoffs. Got 2 bites on the jerkbait with only 1 being fish on!
It's always hard for me to tell how big the fish are with the jerkbaits. The fish will whack them hard. Anyways, the 1st bite felt like a quality fish. My 2nd bite felt vicious. The fish starts to jump and I see it's a pretty big trout. Looked to be in the 17" range. It goes for a 2nd jump and my lure goes flying off.

I think I spent about 1 hour trying for the bass. I saw a trout jump next to the boat about 3' into the air in about ~8' of water. Scared me, lol.

Seeing how I had a trout bite my jerkbait and seeing another trout jump in such shallow water, I must be fishing too deep when I was trolling. I typically put out 110-175' of lead core. That's the range I've caught trout on so far during the summer days.

After my bass session, I went back to trolling. This time, I only put out 50' of lead core. About 15 mins in, I get a strike with fish on! Feels small, but felt like a trout with the swimming action. I get it close and see it is a trout. Pretty sure it's a cutt, but only at 12-13".

I continue on and get 2 more strikes, but didn't stick. So after about another hour of trolling, I'm packing up and getting ready to head in. I'm drifting in the wind and see my FF light up with some ball of bait and fish near the bottom in 30-40'. The ball was suspended in about 15-20'. Some on the bottom.

I get my dropshot rod out with a 5" worm first, to see if anything big is there. Not even a nibble. I put on a little grub from my "Crappie" kit to see if something smaller will get it done. Nada! Not even a nip. So because of that, I'm pretty sure they were not perch, because those bugers nip at everything it seems.

I spent about 30 mins chasing and following that school with no action.

The gas in the boat is just about empty I believe. The needle hardly moves now. Normally, I'll see it bounce a bit when I'm motoring around due to the waves. Might be my last report until next year. :(

Thanks for the report! I was out there yesterday as well in my little yellow kayak targeting coho on the south end with no luck. Saw lots of trout jumping though! I got cold after about 2.5 hours and left.

I saw a kayak , but when I noticed the kayak, it was heading south, near the weather station.
