Fished Friday also for the big triploids that were planted in the middle of the week. Had my six and three year old out on Friday afternoon. Still very cold so we made one loop around the lake and boated three nice fish. The first fish almost sent the rod my three year old colton was holding into the drink. Dad had to real it in and Maddox had a perfect net job. Maddox reeled in the next two and they were ready to go. It was very fun but cold, so bundle those kids up to keep them comfy and having a good time. A cold kid is not a happy fisherman. The next day I went out with a friend and it started slow. Very cold in the twenties. Used wedding rings behind a sling blade tipped with crawler. First day they bit more aggressively. Second day switched to a double hook rig since we were getting nibbles but no solid takes. About three inches between the hooks was best. Once we switched we had three more fish to finish the limit in about thirty minutes. Great times on the water with my boys and friends. Lots of guys using power bait off the big rock and weed lines but I go nuts just sitting there.

Thanks for the report! I was wondering how it would be... How is the launch there? could i put in a 14' Whaler-type skiff w/ electrics?

Jethro, the answer would be yes. As you said, w/electric motor not gas.

Agreed. Not a bad launch at all and I'm sure there are still plenty of fish. Have fun!

Snacks for the little ones too! Sounds like you are doing a great job of raising future fishin' partners! GOOD job DAD! Thanks for sharing.

I was there Sat. with my brother, the launch was much calmer than in past stockings like this. except for the rookies that decide to repair the electric trolling motor on their boat while they block the launch for others to use.
But most understand to stay to the side while they prepare the craft for launch so the rest of us that are ready to go can do so.
By the way the trout planted are not triploids they are classified "jumbo trout" the difference being trips are sterile and dont spawn, the jumbos are capable of spawning. Jumbos are also more active and willing to chase bait while trips tend to be more lazy and less willing to chase their food.

You could probably launch a boat that big there, but it's just a gravel ramp. Also it's a no combustible engine lake and I am not sure if that means you can't even have one attached to your boat or just not use the motor. I have an 18 foot trophy and I would not launch it at this lake. Feasible, probably. Advisible, no.

No you really dont want to try and launch a boat that size at beaver.
No has engines allowed cannot even be on the boat whether you are using it or not.

That's good to know that you can't even have the internal combustion engine on the boat period, I have wondered about that in the past and just assumed it was a no go, period, even when not in use. Thanks for the tips.

I have seen people with internal combustion engines using electrical motors on no combustible engine lakes and nobody was going after them as long as they didn't use gas engines :)
