I took my son and two grandsons fishing on Sprague Lake the day after Thanksgiving. It was overcast, a little windy and spitting rain part of the time. The water was 41.5 degrees....brr...... I had a full top with side curtains and back drop built this fall; with the heat going it was downright comfy inside.

We fished 18# leaded line with 50' of Berkley Vanish leader. Three colors was the ticket with a olive bunny leech fly trolled at 1.8-2.1 MPH. The take downs were massive....these are BIG fish! We let the grandsons catch most of them; what a blast we had watching the boys. The biggest was 22" and over 5# another was 20" plus. Take a kid fishing; it's even more fun than catching them yourself.

PS One must practice plenty to be able to show the kids how to do it!!

Nice fishing out there. Way to go. Those are very nice fish. I am looking forward to fishing rock in a few months but the size is no where those ones. great job.. I personally like the smaller smoker trout. Thanks again for the post.

Thanks Buzzdude. We fillet the fish including skin removal then brine and smoke over cherry or apple. The big bowes are good too done that way. I agree the 2# ers are the best for the smoker and the fish from Rock are great. We always release the big Browns at Rock.

Salmonlander....Know what happens when you take a kid salmon fishing? They are wrecked forever; they get big fish fever! These boys love to catch sun fish and perch too. Now we'll see what they think of them next summer. Hope I have not spoiled them too much; had to happen sooner or later. These are huge memories..God is good!

Take a kid fishing. AH
