Fished last Sunday and going again soon, fished the mid section cove on the right, and across the lake from that point.. Threw rapalas mostly, caught 2 browns, 3 bows. Ive been fishing this lake for 9 years and have been very particular about where I go to avoid the rocks, but I would love to know where I can safely find the rock mines area, rock spears. I keep hearing great things of that area!!! If anyone could help????

If you use the Bing Maps for Rock Lake, the Satellite view shows a lot of the Rock's secrets. good luck and good fishing!

The satellite maps can help, if you get luck enough to get a picture taken when the water is low and clear. I think that this same advice was given last year just before the two young guys almost died after they hit a shelf. Ooooops.

I have considered many times posting the GPS locations of all that I have found, most at the cost of skegs or props. Ouch. My fear is what happens if I missed one or someone does not follow it, can I be sued? In short, my best advise it to keep your speed down to trolling speed when you are within 100 yards of the shore until you find the bad areas. Once you find the bad areas, you will find that for the most part you don't need to be so cautious, but don't take chances until you learn the lake.

now would be a good time to actually look for them as the water is high, but like archer said, at trolling speed, and you motor unlocked, just in case. we found a couple that way, with the depthfinder reading 45 ft, then 2 ft, then the boat stopping. depending on how deep your boat sits in the water would be the main condition, on if i tried it, but would do a little exploring as it were. our first few trips, we actually just trolled around the whole lake to get a read on the pillars we had heard of, and now avoid those areas.
