When I arrived I was surprised to see Pond 6 very busy, I assumed that they must of stocked it with trout this week. I had no luck for the first hour with drop shot rigs, I only saw 3 other fish caught. I switched to an underspin and had a few bites. Switched to a Larva crank and ended up catching 8 trout, I think stocked trout usually stay higher in the water column for the first few weeks because that is how they are used to feeding. Anyways all released, I don't think there are many bass left in Pond 6. Was fun to catch some trout on a crank bait though.

Lure in the top left of the picture, largest trout was maybe 14", all the rest around 10".

Hi PokeyPrasch - Thanks for the report. Can I ask where do you get the Larva Crank?

Thanks - Alan

Hello Alan,

You can find them at fishusa.com or a few other spots, just search "Savage Gear Larva Lure"

Great report. Is there any particular color that works best?

I was using the natural "Larva" color, it's a mix of browns and golds with orange eyes. I also own the white bone color, which I've done better with for bass.

Thanks,
I caught my biggest bass last year at this pond (texas rigged brown senko) so it's got some decent sized bass, not sure about the numbers though. Been skunked a few times.
