3/28/2013 10:40:00 AMGenerally, putting on a smaller hook and bait till you pull something out works. I'd try 8-12 size hook on light line, with less and less worm, till it just barely looks like something, or they quit biting. Bait-stealers get fooled when there is little to steal around. Might be sculpins, or very small catfish, which are both good at that. Lots of others though. Waiting longer, about the time it takes to eat a sandwich and chips, can often change things, but it usually makes catch and release chancy. My one cent worth anyway.

3/28/2013 11:45:00 AMThank you for your advice. I'll have to try it the next time I'm down there. I'm aware that the lake holds catfish and it is rumored that they can reach 25 lbs. I've only seen a catfish that big once and its photo is on Washington Lakes if I remember correctly.

3/28/2013 1:55:00 PMI've caught them to 28lbs in Washington, and the last catfish of last year was 22lbs, caught on 4lb test. If you don't have a lot of brush and the like, or can follow the fish, it's surprising what you can land with patience and a light line. I used to consider 10lb test to be light line for catfish, but not anymore. I admit I've had a breakoff or two, but not many. Night fishing is more effective with cats, but remember they move to the shallows to feed. Even a couple of feet of water can produce at the right time. Scent helps also, anise or shrimp or some other fishy smelling stuff. Good luck!

3/7/2015 11:57:00 AMI have done well with 2-4lb leader 18-24" 8-10 hook small piece of worm. I have a boat and have a special spot and can limit out on trout in just a few casts most the time just drop the bait off the side of the boat. Now there is a monster in the water he lives by the girl sout camp if you have a depth finder about 75 off shore there is a 20' hole. At 1am-4am 4 nights in a row last summer on a hotdog breaks 20lb leader line! Possibly the sturgeon or uber large cat.
