Well after a dismal start to the year, with a wrecked truck, and my boat torn apart for a month longer than I expected while switching from center console to a tiller, I've finally gotten back in the swing of things. It's been a good few weeks, as I've put it to a few people at work... I know it's a good week when my boat's been hooked up to the truck more than it's been sitting in the driveway!

And I've been horrible about remember to get posts up. But Wannafish has done her best to remind me LOL!

One of my most recent adventures was down to American Lake. Sitting on the couch on Monday when we looked out the window to see no rain! Cody and I couldn't think of any excuse not to head out, as the boat was already hooked up, with all the gear in the truck, so down the road we went! Grabbed some subway for lunch on the boat, and planned for an enjoyable few hours on the lake. Fish or no fish.

We started off targeting Kokanee, using Dick Nite Dodgers, wedding rings, and hoochies, we started trolling almost immediately from the ramp. One surface rod with a little added weight, and two rods stacked on a downrigger. As we got past the buoys near the island, the bottom rod got hit. Grabbed it, and got a nice trout to the boat and in the box. We kept trolling past the island toward the other launch and noticed someone familiar in a little boat... it was Wannafish! We chatted for a bit, and she said she had three hits, but didn't have her fish finder. Her battery was going dead, so I told her to call me if she needed a tow, and we turned around and trolled back toward the island.

Near the same spot I picked mine up, Cody's surface rod doubled over with another real nice 15" trout. We kept trolling the West side of the island, switching our gear over to custom spinners and worms. Wannafish text me saying she made it back to the launch safe, and when I looked up from my phone, I saw a fish flying out of the water directly behind the boat. I checked my rods, and they were just bouncing lightly from the action of the dodgers, so I turned to check Cody's surface rod, and it was dancing, doubled over and going crazy! We got the hot fish in the net, and it was another nice Trout. We fished awhile longer with nothing else, and got back to the launch around 4pm, ending the day with three nice trout.

All in all a good day on the water. We got some fish, even though they weren't what we were looking for, they were a good fight, and have super red meat.

Great report, I fished today and just caught trout also. On a side note I love my tiller there is more room in the boat and when you are taking other people fishing you can drive the boat while looking at them and the downriggers.
Let me know when you come to American again.

Mr Fitten:
I took my center console out and put the tiller in, mainly because the console took up too much space. I can now fit more people in the boat, and they are more comfortable. The boats easier to handle and more responsive, sits and runs better in the water, and weighs less! lol It's also much better in the river, as I'm right back at the motors so going between the main and kicker are easier, I get to watch the entire boat while running, and keep on eye on people in the boat. Just all around better! Only downside is I lost storage by not having the center console, and don't have a steering wheel to hold on to when it's rough out haha
